Ophthalmic Surgery
If your pet's eye condition requires surgery, you can count on the VVC. We proudly offer specialized ophthalmic surgical services performed by Dr. Shelby Reinstein.
The Eye Exam & Tests
The comprehensive eye exam uses special equipment that is not routinely available at primary care vets - this allows for a more detailed exam of your pet's eye.

Our newly-built exam rooms are equipped with lift tables to comfortably and safely position your pet for the eye exam. Routine eye testing is performed as part of every consultation to ensure your pet has normal tear production and normal eye pressures. Dr. Reinstein uses a hand-held microscope (called a slit-lamp biomicroscope) to evaluate your pet's eyes on a magnified level. Examination of the retina and optic nerve is performed to get an even deeper evaluation of your pet's eye and systemic health.
OFA Eye Exams
As a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Reinstein has been specially trained to provide screening eye exams for registration through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). These eye exams provide breeders with valuable information regarding eye diseases in their breed, so that they can make informed breeding decisions and produce healthier lines of dogs.
